The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is starting to take shape. Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1778 has been published, laying down rules for the DPP registry provided for in Regulation (EU) 2024/1781.
The aspects now defined include:
- Registration obligations for economic operators.
- Information to be provided in the registry.
- Technical requirements for interoperability, traceability and data security.
- Rules for updating and maintaining information.
- Access conditions for economic operators and competent authorities.
Although these rules do not yet create obligations for all products, they represent an important step in implementing the Digital Product Passport in the European Union.
Anticipating regulatory changes allows companies to assess their impact on products and processes in good time.
At PhaRegistrum, we monitor developments in European legislation and help companies prepare for new requirements.
