Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) introduces rules directly affecting packaging labelling in the European market.
Under Article 12(9), symbols of waste management schemes, such as Ponto Verde or Novo Verde, will no longer be permitted on physical labels. Companies must ensure all stocks bearing these symbols are exhausted by 12 February 2027.
The symbol may continue to be provided digitally, for example through a QR code.
This is another example of the growing impact of European regulation on packaging labelling and management.
