Did you know that the expression \u201ccontains probiotics\u201d may constitute a health claim?<\/p>\n

Using \u201ccontains probiotics\u201d, or an equivalent expression, on food supplements goes beyond simply identifying an ingredient.<\/p>\n

Indicating the presence of probiotics conveys to consumers that the product may provide a health benefit and is therefore considered a health claim.<\/p>\n

There are currently no approved health claims for probiotics in the European Union.<\/p>\n

Consequently, use of the term \u201cprobiotic\u201d or equivalent expressions on food supplements is not authorised.<\/p>\n
