ISO 9001:2026, the sixth edition of the reference standard for Quality Management Systems, was published on 16 September.
While retaining the structure and fundamental principles of the previous version, the new edition introduces changes intended to strengthen the effectiveness of Quality Management Systems and their adaptation to the current organisational context. Publication marks the start of a three-year transition period. In Portugal, the Portuguese Institute for Quality (IPQ) is expected to publish NP EN ISO 9001:2026 in October 2026.
